Mentalista Guinguette is a mouth-watering levitation experiment and a reflection about data models’ biases.
In this experimental aperitif, collaborate by thought with your partner by focusing on visualizing the French sausage plate to make it levitate and taste it. With an EEG headset, participants’ visualisation is tracked by a led bar, on which they can observe their progress.
Mentalista Guinguette plays at hacking the popular rituals with technology by introducing brain-computer interfaces at aperitif time.
Despite its wacky aspect, Mentalista Guinguette is a research on data models' biases, used in machine learning algorithms. The goal is to find out how the participants will visualize the french sausage using brain generated data already collected on other volunteers.
Each person imagines the sausage differently depending on their culture and beliefs. For this reason, capturing the multiple mental images associated with the french sausage didn’t make it possible to create a model. To remedy this, we have introduced a new visual stimulus: the levitation of the meats’ slices. This perception of the french sausage levitating made it possible not to encourage discrimination during the training of the self-learning algorithm.
