Mentalista Guinguette is a mouth-watering levitation experiment and a reflection on data models’ biases.
In this experimental aperitif, you have to collaborate by thought with your partner by focusing on visualizing the saucisson plate to make it levitate and taste it. With an EEG headset, the participants’ visualisation is tracked by a LED bar showing their progress.
Mentalista Guinguette plays at hacking our everyday rituals with technology, introducing brain-computer interfaces at aperitif time.Despite its wacky aspect, Mentalista Guinguette is a research on data models' biases, used in machine learning algorithms. The goal is to find out how the participants will visualize the french saucisson using brain generated data already collected on other volunteers.
Each person imagines the dried sausage differently depending on their culture and beliefs. For this reason, the mental images that were captured when people thought of the saucisson were too different to create a model. To remedy this issue, we have introduced a new visual stimulus: the saucisson slices levitating. This focus on the perception of the levitation avoids discrimination during the training of the self-learning algorithm.
